WONDERFULLY WET ST MARTHA’S ON THE HILL WEDDING CEREMONY
– JADE AND PAUL’S RELAXED HORSLEY TOWERS RECEPTION
On the blog today is Jade and Paul’s gorgeously rainy St Martha’s wedding. I am not going to lie when they told me that they were having a St Martha’s wedding it was a dream come true. Long have my family been walking up and down those steep Surrey hills to enjoy the stunning scenery and views. Right at the top of St Martha’s hill is the cutest church. Being able photograph a wedding high upon the rolling hills of Surrey was going to be amazing. I was already excited!
THE WEDDING DAY!
The phrase ‘don’t rain on my parade’ would apply to Jade and Paul’s wedding day. However, you will see from their wedding images that neither one of them stopped smiling the whole entire day. With rain forecast all day, the couple embraced the wet weather with gusto. You never can rely totally on a British summer. To avoid your own disappointment have a read through my wedding advice on What To Do If It Rains On Your Wedding Day blog.
Jade and Paul were anything but disappointed on their big day. In fact I think that Jade’s face never stopped smiling. She and her bridesmaids got ready at Horsley Towers in Surrey. Then made a rather quick dash to avoid the precipitation up to St Martha’s On The Hill. Paul and his guests walked up the rather wet and windy trail to the gorgeous little church to await the bride. Sporting a gorgeous grin on her face Jade made it up to the top of the hill to meet her groom.
With readings from friends and family, Jade and Paul’s wedding was extremely heartfelt and moving. The patter of rain on the churches roof intensified as the couple said “I Do” and sealed the marriage with the traditional kiss. Under the adorning umbrellas the couple and guests made their way back down the steep hills and on to Horsley Towers.
THE RECEPTION AT HORSLEY TOWER’S
Whilst the guests relaxed it was time for some couples portraits. Horsely Towers has a gorgeous amount of land and interior space for couples photography. This was an added blessing with the weather. Unfortunately the wet weather did not allow for photography in the grounds. However, the gorgeous cloisters within the mansion was a welcome relief from the rain! Jade, Paul and I hung out in the mansions many beautiful hallways before returning for the wedding breakfast together. The couples speeches were a hoot! With raucous speeches and side splitting laughter, guests could hardly contain their enjoyment.
On occasion, it is often customary for the bride to possibly change outfit in the evening. Paul, however is a man after my own heart. Without the guests knowledge he managed to change into his evening attire without anyone knowing. Breaking out on to the dance floor with custom made shorts to go with his suit. This was just in time for his first dance with Jade, and he looked smashing!
