Hana and Alex’s Quintessential Surrey Gate Street Barn Wedding
Hana and Alex’s Gate Street Barn wedding was on a scorching bank holiday weekend. The morning of the wedding was spent getting ready in a little B’n’B. Spending the morning with Hana and her bridesmaids allowed me to capture the anticipation and excitement leading up to the ceremony. With gorgeous matching dressing gown robes, the girls had their hair and make up done. Alex had sent Hana a present on the morning of the wedding that had everyone welling up. Hana had thought about lots of beautiful details. She had personalised hangers to hold her gorgeous bridesmaids dresses from Coast and added a family heirloom to her bridal bouquet.

Before we knew it, the time had come to put the gorgeous Ronald Joyce dress. Despite a drama of a local street fair trying to stop the bride getting to the church in her car [something that could only happen in the Surrey countryside] the day was filled with so many laughs and love. The couple said ‘I Do’ at St. James Church in Shere, Surrey – which has been made famous by movies such as ‘The Wedding Date’ – a personal favourite of mine. It is beautiful and iconically British.
Flowers surrounded the entrance which were arranged by Hannah Martin Flowers, and with the baby blue hydrangeas and pink roses the flowers really captured the British summer vibe. After the ceremony, guests followed the newlyweds to Gate Street Barn where they were to have their reception. After canapés and drinks, we set aside some time for the group photographs and followed the couple in for the wedding breakfast.
Lots of Alex’s friends who attended the wedding he had known since school so there were some very funny moments during speeches!
The scorching day was met by a beautifully warm evening and we were able to slip away for some couples photographs at golden hour. Gate Street Barn has some beautiful areas to sneak away and spend some time alone together and we took great advantage of the gorgeous scenery. After roasting marshmallows on the fire and cutting the cake – which was made by one of the couples best friends – it was time for the first dance. Guests gathered in the main barn to witness the bride and groom re-creating the iconic Dirty Dancing routine as their routine. The evening entertainment Mowtown Gold bought everyone onto the dance floor and guests danced the night away.
I hope that you have have a lovely time perusing the images in my blog and I think it is safe to day that the couple had the time of their lives… sorry but a Dirty Dancing pun had to be done!
