SARAH AND SAM’S WONDERFUL WINTER WEDDING at THE BARN AT BOTLEY HILL

When Sarah and Sam enquired with me about their Barn at Botley Hill wedding I was so excited. Having worked at the venue before I knew I was in for a treat. Having Sarah and Sam as clients was the cherry on top of a beautifully made cake. They are just my type of people. Fun, relaxed and up for a laugh. I had previously been part of Lizzie and Andy’s wedding party at Botley and the venue is just an amazing backdrop. Every wedding there feels individual and unique in the space.

RELAXED BOTLEY HILL BARN WEDDING

Sarah got ready at her family home the morning of the wedding. It was relaxed, fun and really lovely to be in her childhood space. There was time for some bridesmaid portraits in her mothers beautiful garden before we descended to The Barn at Botley Hill for the final preparations. The weather was perfect for an English November wedding, which is a miracle given the UK’s climate. After an intimate ceremony Sam, Sarah and their guests were able to have part of their drinks reception outside! We even snuck out and had the weather hold out for group shots in front of those ICONIC windows.

FEAST YOUR EYES ON THIS GLORIOUS SURREY WEDDING

Once the couple had mingled with their guests we took a little stroll in the fabulous grounds of the venue for some relaxed couples portraits together. My aim as a wedding photographer is to capture your love as you are. There are no gimmicks and fireworks. Love is special and I capture yours naturally. This mainly involves having a cuddle and a walk together. This is what I love about being a Surrey wedding photographer – couples as lovely as Sam and Sarah and a backdrop like The Barn at Botley Hill.

With beautiful speeches and a wicked dance floor it is safe to say that this Barn at Botley Hill wedding was one for the memory books! It is so unbelievably humbling for such wonderful couples like Sarah and Sam who chose to work with me, that I will never stop pinching myself!

LIZZIE + ANDY’S FUN AND RELAXED BOTLEY HILL BARN WEDDING

This Botley Hill Barn wedding was extremely special. Something that the pandemic has taught us is that celebrations can happen any way you would like them. Like many other couples in the last two years, Lizzie and Andy had their original wedding plans derailed. They were married in a micro ceremony during the pandemic and decided to celebrate with a huge party. They had always planned a wedding at Botley Hill Barn, but this was a chance to do things a little differently.

A Uniquely Constructed Botley Hill Barn Wedding

As a couple they felt that the vows they had already taken together were special enough. So they were to have all the elements of a wedding, but without the ceremony. Lets call it a deconstructed wedding day! Lizzie and her bridal party got ready in the suite above the ceremony area. The room was filled with laughter and champagne. Lizzie was the calmest bride, taking in all the moments with her friends and family. As there was to be no ceremony, Lizzie and Andy decided to have a first look as Lizzie was to be wearing her original wedding dress that Andy had not seen.

I LOVE a First Look between Couples!

It may have immigrated over from the United States. But the first look tradition is one that can stay in my opinion. It gives you time together away from the hundreds of eyes at a ceremony. Before a ceremony you have time to get your wedding portraits done and then you are still able to enjoy the whole of your reception without interruption! Win win, in my opinion. After a really wonderful first look, Lizzie and Andy were able to enter into Botley Hill Barn wedding in a fun and traditional way. Through a confetti line (which is one of my favourite parts of a day)! After their entrance there was still time for group photographs, speeches and dinner and one hell of a party!

The last time I was at Botley Hill Barn there was no barn to speak of. So it was such a pleasure to be photographing such a wonderful wedding here today.
